Yes, this glasses business sure can get to be a nuisance as you get older. Like most of us, I had pretty good vision––close-in and distant––until sometime in my 50s or 60s when I began to get bothered by double-vision while driving. More and more, I was driving around with one eye closed. My long-time eye doc continued to fine-tune my prescription, but with only marginal success. Then last year my long-time doc retired, and my care was given over to the practice's newest doc, a fellow (when I first met him) I sized up as still a daily watcher of Sesame Street. This new doc gave me a new prescription for prescription glasses, and WOW! No more double-vision. So now it's on to finding good reading glasses. I'm encouraged by your saying, " … and voila, I'm reading again!" That motivates me.
What do you say? Shall we all have the best possible weekend?

Yes, definitely! The BEST POSSIBLE! (Glad you didn't say, "best ever"). That means every weekend can be our best possible! Do I hear an "Amen!" or a "You bet!!!"??
The ophthalmologist I was sent to specialized in double vision (convergence), a problem that has plagued me since my teens. I know so well the one-eye-closed maneuver -- it is still a go-to when I get drop-over tired. But it amazes me that I don't need reading glasses anymore at all. This doc looked to be 60-something and he was lightning-fast at discerning the prescription needed. Also, routine eye exams aren't covered by my Medicare or secondary, but this appointment was because it was a diagnostic appointment (they were looking for early Grave's symptoms; it turned out negative - yay!).
