Oh, yeah! I'm right there with you and @westwoman3698. My optometrist (of many years) was not comfortable prescribing new glasses for me this year, sending me to an ophthalmologist for a second opinion. He wrote the prescription, which I took back to my optometrist's office to have made with very plain (but quality) frames, and voila, I'm reading again! Had prescription readers made from my 2025 appointment but they were all but useless. Oh, this is so nice, now! I know I have "difficult" eyes, having needed visual therapy some 50 years ago. Prisms have gotten much stronger over the years but golly, I sure am glad to be able to read again with no "second pair" (readers) needed!

Yes, this glasses business sure can get to be a nuisance as you get older. Like most of us, I had pretty good vision––close-in and distant––until sometime in my 50s or 60s when I began to get bothered by double-vision while driving. More and more, I was driving around with one eye closed. My long-time eye doc continued to fine-tune my prescription, but with only marginal success. Then last year my long-time doc retired, and my care was given over to the practice's newest doc, a fellow (when I first met him) I sized up as still a daily watcher of Sesame Street. This new doc gave me a new prescription for prescription glasses, and WOW! No more double-vision. So now it's on to finding good reading glasses. I'm encouraged by your saying, " … and voila, I'm reading again!" That motivates me.
