@midnightcandle1 Anxiety any time of the day is uncomfortable. Mornings are my most difficult time as well. I also have civilian PTSD. I awaken many mornings with heart pounding and gasping for air. I oft wonder if it my inner self being fearful of waking up in such a state that takes over before I fully wake up...? I have been working on retraining my mind. At 67 I find it “may” not be possible as I know that I am hard-wired. I am also hard-headed and continue on the battlefield. I get up endeavoring to have something lined up to keep me busy. Distraction works best for me. Others here have input as to ways to deal with the monstrous morning mayhem. There are also times coming to the connect community helps.

@hard-headed and continue on the battle field. I'm not a veteran, sorry 2 say. I write to our troops in Afghanistan nearly every day, have for 19 years. But my point is being hard-headed. My household is "My way or the highway". I live alone at 64. Born and raised in Los Angeles, sheltered by a motorcycle gang to keep me safe from my family. Yeah, the 1% were gentler. Moved to get away from that but I keep finding the violence and battling on others' behalf. Others want me to protect them, but when I do they later claim I was too vigilant.
