boppi, there is no one who can "save" you. However, there are many who can assist and guide you, through this extremely rough patch. You've done the right thing by sharing your situation on this site. There are so many who post here on a daily basis, who are currently in the same situation as you, and they all have experience, some many years, that is shared with those in need of advice. You may also want to contact the Alzheimer's Association, speak to one of their agents, get their hot line number and use their wealth of experience to help guide you. Please, do not feel that you are alone, we are all, either currently going through the same life changing events, or have been there in the recent past. You arre not losing the man you love, you are moving into a new phase of how you will express your love for him. And please, show him as much love and attention, as you can muster, He needs it and you will benefit from the results. as well. Although it may be somewhat repetitious to those who come here regularly, but I have to tell you what I did when my wife did not recognize me, which was frequently. I would just accept the fact, and play whatever role I was assigned. If she called me "dad" I became dad as long as necessary. Don't attempt to force him to recognize you as who you actually are, it won't work, and may cause him to be upset, as well as upsetting yourself. Be strong, talk to family & friends, contact a local agency that may be able to direct you to support groups nearby. Don't lose faith, he's still in there, just depending on you, now probably more than ever.
Best to you and the man you love so much. Take care of yourself, so that you can take care of him.
