@donniej I had the same question last Sept when I started my 45 IMRT sessions. So here is the thing: cycling puts pressure on prostate and if you have a spacer put in, it is possible that riding could cause the gel to shift and endanger rectal area from the radiation. As much as I hated to stop, I decided not to chance disturbing the spacer gel. Now I dont know your situation but I would have a conversation with your radiation oncologist about this and procede from there. As with many prostate cancer issues, there are usually several view points and some contradicting others. I just decided I could forego cycling 9 weeks...I think I did start back on 7th or 8th week and did short neighborhood rides. I love my bike time !

The problem is there frequently are urinary urgency or burning problems and many people get diarrhea that require them to Have a toilet Handy multiple times a day.
You may or may not have these problems. I’m working with somebody now that had them in the first week and then they settle down and he’s been OK. Another guy I was working with recently had the Side effects so intensely that he had to cut back to four days a week so he could recover. There’s no knowing how you are going to react since everyone is different.
You probably aren’t going to have enough fatigue that it will require you to not ride for a while. But that is a possibility.
I had 40 sessions and they gave less radiation in each session. I immediately went to work every morning right after radiation. Didn’t even notice the radiation doing anything to me. You have a lot fewer sessions so they give you more radiation each time and the side effects can be more intense.
