I'm so sorry but I will be of zero help with your husband's diet. I will say this though. I'm a Gleason 9 with a Christmas tree of mets. Throughout this journey, treatment sucks and side effects suck. I will not add another suck by eating things I don't like. I don't like grass or leaves or any other thing that my dinner eats for dinner. I'm feeding me, not my prostate. I eat steak often. I would probably eat it every day but unfortunately (or thankfully, depending on your point of view), I can't afford that so some things that are "good for you" in someone's opinion, creep in from time to time.

My point is he's dealing with cancer, treatment, and all the crappy side effects thereof. Please let him eat what he wants every now and then. A couple of steaks and a couple of pizzas (or insert his favorites here) a month aren't going to kill him (unless he chokes on it, of course). Best wishes to you both!

Aw heck...here's a couple easy ones that aren't terribly unhealthy, that slip into my diet when I'm out of steak:

Oven Roasted Whole or Breast of Quail:

Remove skin
Pat dry
Brush lightly with EVOO
Sprinkle with poultry or Bell's seasoning
Bake in pre-heated 450-degree oven for 15-20 minutes
Rest for 15 minutes (important)
Enjoy!

Change of pace...use curry in place of Bell's

I usually serve it over some dirty rice variation.

Slow Cooker Rabbit

Whole meat rabbit cleaned and quartered
potatoes - large cubed
carrots - 2 inch cut
onion - diced
olive oil
flour - seasoned (pepper, garlic powder)
1 - 2 cups water - seasoned (pepper, garlic, sage, thyme, parsley, Worcestershire)

Dredge rabbit in seasoned flour
Brown rabbit in frying pan coated with olive oil
Add diced onion, sauté till clear
Place potato and carrot in bottom of slow cooker
Add rabbit/onion from fry pan - use pan drippings / scrapings for gravy if desired
Pour seasoned water over top
Cover and slow cook on low 6-8 hours. Done when veggies are fork soft and rabbit falls from bone.

Sorry that there are few measurements. I just eyeball everything. Also, I don't use salt so feel free to add.

Thanks Mjp for sharing 😃 ! I wanted to ask you if you ever eat your quails but worried that you might not, and that my question would be improper since some people treat poultry as pets. I did not have the chance to eat quails more than handful of times (in some expensive restaurants) and meat was delicious !
My younger daughter loves rabbit meat but she can eat it only when she travels to Europe since here it is not available. Unfortunately I do not have anybody in my family that is a hunter so those delicacies are out of my reach. ENJOY !!! : )))

@mjp0512 Good for you! Life with prostate cancer sucks enough without having to beat yourself up that maybe YOU caused it by eating something!😖😖😖
And maybe you’ll “Bring it Back” If you eat meat, eggs, dairy and other foods you love…bunk!!!!
We’re all gonna die from something and trust me, I’ve heard and seen enough stories of people who survived ‘X’ only to die horribly from ‘Y’. It strikes me as nonsensical to think you have the power over your own life and death with a sprig of broccoli or a cup of soymilk! Talk about magical thinking🤯.
I had those quail eggs of yours poached over a frisee salad in France; the lumps of goat cheese contrasted nicely with the salty, crackly lardons. If that meal - and others like it - gave me cancer it was worth every wonderful mouthful😋😋😋

PS: I was going to send this to you privately, but decided to live dangerously…it’s my opinion, nothing more, and was encouraged by your refreshing frankness on this surprisingly controversial topic.
Best,
Phil
