@gravity3 I had a very bad experience with replacement of my right knee in 2020. (The surgeon had NO bedside manner either!). The recovery was tough because each pain med that I tried either made me vomit or I broke out in a rash all over my body. They told me to only take Tylenol. The pain was awful and the Tylenol didn’t make a dent in my pain. I made a promise to myself that I would NEVER get another knee replacement! Well, now it is six years later and I have scheduled a date for a left TKR (different surgeon, different Boston hospital). This surgeon does “minimally invasive surgery” and I told him that it is what I need! I tried to get the GAE but my insurance wouldn’t cover it. I was so disappointed! Now, I am trying hard to exercise to build up strength in my quads (no one told me to do that with the first knee replacement.). I am exercising at home and going to the gym twice a week, along with following a program called Hinge Health, which is provided through my insurance. It connects you with a PT and he/she arranges exercises for the area of concern. They have been very helpful. Wish that I could have had that GAE done! Knee surgery and the recovery are so, so difficult! I can’t believe that I am doing this again, but I have exhausted all “over the counter” options!!!!
