Lymphedema in legs

Just had to post an update on my new hubcaps...well they do cover my wheels ☺ Did I tell you I hate compression socks even more now. The two pair of toe less side zippered ones I bought on my own were 15 to 20 mm compression and I thought that was tight on my feet & legs. After wearing the new 20 mm to 30 mm compression socks the rest of the day Monday I thought I was going to have to cut them off with the scissors. But I'm really cheap and the socks were $80 (psst...I'm not buying them again at the Mayo Store). I'm on day 3 of wearing them and I really think they are doing the job as my right leg would normally be quite large between the knee and the ankle by mid morning. So I'm hoping the socks are not a forever thing but it is what it is.

Happy Wednesday!
John

John, your right leg looks good. Keep up with it!

@johnbishop- John great to hear about you new hubcaps! Looking pretty sharp there. You need some knickers for those socks! Ha, ha! Glad most of all that they seem to be doing the job! Jim @thankful

Thanks @colleen00 and @thankful - the compression socks do seem to be doing the job with the swelling. No knickers for this kid. I do have some flashy socks but sigh, can't wear them until the swelling is really under control. I am loving bamboo fiber socks though. They are really soft and stretchy and easy for an old guy to put on and take off. Until then it's your basic black and white compression socks.

Now I'm anxious to find out what the plan is for my right knee when I have a consultation with the knee specialist. The X-ray showed advanced degenerative arthritis with some loose bodies floating around. I think it means knee replacement but not sure yet. I have been trying to build the leg muscles strength up by doing pre-knee surgery exercises. Also switched my morning wake up exercise from 30 minutes on a recumbent exercise bike to 15 to 20 minutes on the bike in elliptical mode. My knee starts aching a little at 15 minutes so I try not to over do it.

@john they look terrific if it's doing the job isn't it worth it

@johnbishop- John you are very welcome! You are amazing! Working on pre knee surgery exercises is so smart! I would recommend putting a bag of ice on your knee after each exercise. Very regenerative for sore joints. Everyone I have ever known that had a knee or hip replacement seems to always say they wished they had done it sooner because how well it has worked out. If the knee replacement is what they recommend I would definitely encourage you to go for it. All the best to you! Jim @thankful
