You may think there should be no dietary restrictions, but the fact is recurrence can be aided by eating foods that are not helpful To prevent reoccurrence. You have lots of cells in your body, and some of them are susceptible to those foods and can be prompted to grow if you do not pay attention to what you eat.

The fact of a prostatectomy is really irrelevant. Before you were even diagnosed Dormant cells were sent throughout your body by the cancer and can be activated by stress. Besides that there are other cells that can be encouraged to grow by certain foods. Whole milk, Deli meat, Red meat, Sugary beverages, and fruit juice and a lot of other items can encourage your cancer cells to replicate.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube about Diet and prostate cancer. UCSF says it in this link,
https://www.ucsfhealth.org/health-articles/nutrition-and-prostate-cancer
It’s not like you can never eat these foods, but eating them Infrequently can be beneficial for your cancer.

I’ve had four reoccurrences because I have the genetic problem of BRCA2. I’ve had prostate cancer for 16 years and I’ve had surgery and radiation and many drugs. For the last 10 years, I’ve greatly limited the amount of red meat and other items that are not good for my cancer. I think that’s one of the reasons I’m still around after all this time.

You can eat, whatever you like whenever you like, but your cancer may become more aggressive as a result.

@jeffmarc What I saw in the article looked a lot like a promotion for supplements. A lot of a conflating the benefits of exercise and staying at a proper weight and reducing saturated fats with a vegan diet. Associations that were better but not significant like better with 28 vegetable servings a week vs. 14 or less with no quantification of benefits or a general recommendation for 56-70 servings of vegetables and fruits a week. Not even worth trying for those. There were a few gems like the 41% decrease of cancer with 3+ servings of broccoli, bok choy, cabbage, kale, or cauliflower a week. There was also the 40% decrease from Omega3. Not sure I believe those numbers, but since I tick both of those maybe that is why I am okay with ignoring the rest. It is really about exercising, maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, and keeping the weight down more than what you eat. Doing that should be easier on a vegan diet. However, a lot of what is consumed is leveled out by stomach acid. Studies show no relationship between consumption of red or processed meats and progression of prostate cancer although they did show 10%+ increased risks for heart health as well as initial colorectal cancer.

As I said before, do what makes you happy even if that is a vegan or other restricted diet. Keep consuming those lutamides since that probably has more effect on prostate cancer suppression than everything else in the diet.
