I have 3 gold crowns that are decades old. I have had OLP for about 10 years. Were you tested and if so, what kind of test, if not too much trouble. I also ELP (esophageal LP) and purpura which was wrongly diagnosed as LP (the arm spots don't itch- but i get the OLP ELP and purpura when stressed. Thanks for any update.

@chrisanon I had 6 gold onlays and immediately started having issues. I got them placed in the 1980's and never put two and two together because the gold onlays were described as the best way to protect my teeth. I wasn't diagnosed with OLP until 2015 but am thinking it was the cause of my gum issues through the years. I've had 4 of the 6 removed and will be getting the other two taken out; just trying to find a dentist that will take out the onlay and replace it rather than taking the teeth. My periodontist insists that the gold is not the cause of the OLP.
