@maeve115 Thank you so much for your reply and the extra information you've given me. I did get advice from a nutritionist early in my treatment with Octreotide in 2023, mainly to help me with the constipation it caused right away. I got the ideas of what type of foods might help and the Miralax. I discovered on my own that really fatty foods make me bloat and uncomfortable with a distended stomach.
I should really ask for another appointment with her to discuss further. I don't see my doctor except for every 4 months or so, just go in for the shots and blood tests. At no time has he discussed the causes of bloating and stomach distension.
I have another problem of labile hypertension, with a BP that goes up as the day goes on, especially high around dinner time. I have to carefully time my eating with how my BP is controlled by my meds, since "slow motility" of a meal can mean that if my BP meds are combined with a lot of food, they won't work for hours and I can go very high.
The wacky hypertension was caused by breast cancer drugs, and I'm now stuck with it. I'm off the drugs. Two cancer diagnoses at the same time is not fun but it's what is.
The two things you suggest I should do more of is have smaller meals more often and being vigilant about fat intake, especially saturated fat. Thanks, Maeve, for your ideas!

I am no expert on these matters but I do suspect that many of us need to find our particular workarounds for the side effects. Ochtreatide is supposedly results in constipation in about ten to twenty percent of users. Seems as if you have found your semi-solution in avoiding fatty foods. I am glad that you are going to see the nutritionist again. I find it helpful to see the nutritionist on a regular basis to help with keeping on track.

Two cancer diagnoses at the same time has to be rough. I know from past personal experience that aromotase inhibitors, taken for post breast cancer surgery, were rough on the body. I also needed to stop taking them. Together we are learning to self advocate and determine what our bodies and spirits require.. Managing the dietary stuff is challenging and I am sorry that you also need to watch you BP so closely. Self monitoring can feel like a full time job. Some days, I just need to create a cancer-free days where I maintain my diet routine but put aside everything and find some rest, restoration and even a bit of delight.. May you feel a moment of delight find you today.
