I had GAE in my right knee over 2 years ago.
It really has helped a lot.
Interventional Radiology does the procedure. It did not hurt at all. I would make sure you have an experienced Doctor and great Hospital.
This is how I would describe the procedure. They sedate you, go thru your groin in the artery using a CT. They locate the inflammation of where the pain is and inject small (beads, 100-300) in the inflamed arteries. Hopefully that will help prevent the pain.
I was having to use a cane to walk prior to the procedure and now I no longer need to.
