Interest in Lithium Orotate.
For those taking it, what brand did you research and find to be the purest.

We've been using 10 mg bioavailable LiO from Global Healing. They sell large line of Healthcare supplements. Their rating on Trustpilot is 4.7 but prices are higher than some for similar products.

@gw1997 I've been buying Vital Health 20 mg capsules on Amazon. As I recall, the 20 mg options were far fewer than the 5 mg ones.

@gw1997 "what brand"

YAY!! I'm so glad to see this mentioned, because unregulated OTC ("Supplements") can legall contain almost anything. I'm happy to see brands mentioned for this reason, and hope it's ok here on Connect.

I started us out on Pure Extractions 1mg, then added 5mg KAL. When I recently found that the KAL apparently also contains an unspecified "carbonate" form or quantity I switched to Swanson 5mg. At long last we have an upcoming local Neurologist appointment where I hope to get a prescription for LiO to get at a local compounding pharmacy.

As for dosage, I'm wondering how LiO would show up on blood tests. My understanding of the actual Nature study (not the brief Harvard Med article), is that LiO uniquely bonds to the harmful brain substances and clears them. That's what led to 70% long-term recovery in the study mice. So for me that begs the question: will the cleared Li show up in blood tests, or in spinal fluid or other biological regions/functions?

My wife's MCI had dramatically improved on our current 12mg (6mg at waking, 6mg at bedtime). After some weeks, she recently suddenly had a difficult day of confusion and memory issues (better now, but not as before that episode).

Since MCI/AD is a relatively slow-progressing disease, I'm going to wait for the Dr.'s input before making any change. That said, my current sense is that a higher dose is probably safe. Apparently even LiO at 240mg/day has no significant side effects when used in psychiatry, though I'd be VERY reluctant to take anywhere near that amount.

Thank you Connect and all commenting here for sharing your brand, dose, and anecdotal reports.
