Thank you for the info. I don't usually like to advise on other people's tapers (especially since I have no medical background), but my initial thoughts are:
a) There wasn't enough time given for your body/mind to adjust to whatever dosage of Klonopin you were taking before stepping down to .25mg
b) There needs to be a smaller cut from .75mg, instead of jumping to .25mg
Unfortunately, there may always be some symptoms experienced at any cut, but they can certainly be minimized when taking it slower and other practices are implemented. Hopefully someone who has dealt with only taking klopin at night can advise on this. For most of the 10 years, I was only taking it in the morning.
Insomnia alone can play a huge factor in anxiety and panic the next day if I haven't had enough sleep. While starting my taper program, my doctor also had me start taking melatonin before sleeping. It has helped greatly. She couldn't stress enough the importance of sleep has on one's mental state.
For me, the major symptom while tapering has been heart palpitations. Although usually not serious, they are uncomfortable and can make it hard to focus when staying still, thus causing me anxiety. My doctor prescribed me Atenolol and it has helped tremendously. It is a beta blocker that treats high blood pressure, but works wonders on my heart palpitations, heart rate, and also relieves anxiety.
