I have been on some type of benzo (alprazolam and now klonopin) for at least 11 years. I recently weaned from klonopin 1 mg twice daily to .25mg at bedtime ( over a three month period). My question is this. I have recently relocated to a new state, new job, new friends etc. I have had a bad few days and took my 2mg dose Saturday Sunday and today. Do I need to start all over? Or can I safely resume my 0.25mg tonight? I’m afraid I have set myself back. Please help!! Thank you!!!

@bobbieb Can understand you not wanting a setback. I doubt this should be a problem. I am not a doctor. Maybe some others have input. Oft benzodiazepines are prescribed PRN. I would go back to the .25 at bedtime and go from there.

Hi 👋 there,
You have been taking it for a long time. Because of that I would decrease it even slower. If it was me I would decrease your dose by a max of 10% per dose every 2 weeks minimum and preferably every 3-4 weeks. You have already found out what happens when you decrease too quickly. Some people can decrease quicker. One person here is decreasing their dose by less than half a percent. Getting off without withdrawal issues will be time consuming. I got off it without withdrawal symptoms but it took quite awhile. I definitely wouldn’t go back to the .25 a day. You had symptoms at that dose and may again. Its important to remember how long you were on it.
Good luck,
Jake
