@walkinggirl: I worked at Plainiew Movie Theater, too! I was brought up in Syosset, my husband lived on Irene Lane in Plainview and had worked there before me. Funny enough we were at Zuma Beach in Malibu today where I learned the very first time he went to Jones Beach was with the Plainview theater crowd at 17 yrs old. I was incredulous - how could you be raised on LI and never have gone to the beach until then??! I never had a LI or NY accent though. My parents owned their home from '59-2001. What years were you there?

@grammato3 I actually worked at the Jones Beach Theater for 3 summers in college. had to wear uniforms that made us look like WAVES. We lived on Phipps Lane next to the park which has entrances on Phipps Lane and Marilyn Blvd. Across Woodbury Rd was Syosset There is now a traffic light at the corner of Marilyn Blvd, across on the Syosset side was a short strip mall with a candy store (a NYC/area unique thing). If your husband lived on Irene Lane (from Marilyn turn left onto Irene). Did he know my classmates Penny B and Betty G who lived on Irene Lane? #33 and #35 if I remember correctly. My longtime friend Carole lived at the corner of Marilyn and the second left onto Irene. Many friends lived in that area. I graduated PHS in 1964. The last time I was there was when we had our last HS reunion, 2013 I think. I stayed a couple of nights with my cousin in New Hyde Park and then at the hotel where many others were staying. Visited my old next-door neighbor, she insisted I ring the bell at my old house. Well, when I identified myself, the people my brother and I sold the house to in 1999 literally pulled me inside to show me all they had done to the house. Well, this story can go on and on.... I use Google maps to refresh my memory on street names.
