@soggybones wow exactly the experience I had once diagnosed! And every day is riddled with anxiety about breaking a foot getting out of bed, what if I trip, on and on. Almost wish I never had a DEXA scan at 65; I would have been happily living my healthy life without the constant worry. Sticking my head in the sand is not very smart however; bad bones need attention! Is it that hard for doctors to give patients thorough information when diagnosed with a chronic lifelong disease? I guess it is. Thank heaven for sites like this. And I resent having to do so much research; never wanted to be a doctor or go to med school, got my degree in business and design!

@jozer I know! Sometimes I regret having had a DEXA since I was so carefree before, but other times I'm grateful I found out I had osteoporosis through a Dexa scan instead of a life-changing fracture. I just wish doctors would give patients a brochure or something explaining what their DEXA score means and what things a patient could do to help themselves. I feel as if we just get thrown a prescription and shoved out the door.

@jozer

Couldn't agree more. Did I share this post here? Can't remember.
We should be given our first dexa scan much, much earlier!!!!
