New Lymphedema caused by breast radiation

Why are we surprised by these after-effects? Shouldn’t our oncologists be looking for and asking about symptoms at follow-ups? At minimum, they could provide a pamphlet (print and/or via portal) with post-treatment symptoms to look out for and to bring to their attention.

@ffr, you’re absolutely right! They never told me about the many side effects I had: burning blisters on my chest from radiation… they gave me Cerave, and then 4 weeks later they told about the anastrazole cream ( that takes it all away within 24 hours) … when I had bad stomach problems … they told me to see the gastro … when it’s a document fact that radiation affects gut motility and stomach issues, and then this last surprise with lymphedema… why can’t doctors provide us with a pamphlet of all possible side effects and their solutions?
