Double Total Knee Replacements

Hello @10nsmom, welcome to Connect.

I know of a few people personally who have had both of their knees replaced at the same time, and they seemed to recover quite well and quickly. The tricky thing about knees, from what I have learned reading through so many of our great members' posts, is that the recovery process (speed, flexibility, pain, etc.) varies quite a bit from person-to-person. We have many members who have discussed total knee replacements on Connect, but I am not sure if we have any just yet that have discussed doing two at the same time.

I would like to invite @niazumbanut to the conversation to share their experience with a total knee replacement at Mayo Clinic. I would also like to invite
@gailfaith who had two knee replacements within two years of each other.

I also think you may find the following conversations worth reading through for other members experiences and tips for recovery:

- scar tissue after knee replacement, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/scar-tissue-after-knee-replacement/
- Having knee replacement: how to prepare and questions about PT, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/im-having-knee-replacement-l-on-june-20th-any-suggestions-on-how/
- Chronic knee pain after knee replacement with excessive scar tissue formation,
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/chronic-knee-pain-after-knee-replacement-with-excessive-scar-tissue-formation/
@10nsmom, have you already met with Mayo Clinic Scottsdale? Did they suggest having both done at the same time and what did they say about the recovery?

Thanks Justin for your mention of me in one of the last posts. But I have mentioned so many times how well mine went I don't want to keep repeating myself but I SURELY do wish everyone contemplating such, the best. If you want me to repeat it again, I will, but maybe if can find one of my old related posts that might suffice ????????? gailfaith

I do appreciate your high level of participation gailfaith. I apologize if it seems that I tag you often on knee replacement discussions, but you have offered such good support to other members and add great value to discussions on Connect. @10nsmom is facing a unique situation in that she may be undergoing a total knee replacement of both knees at the same time. While I don't believe we have any members who have done this, you had done both so quickly together. I see that you and @10nsmom have connected in the After knee replacement surgery discussion as well. Again, thank you.

I would also like to know if anyone who had a knee replacement feels a click in their knee. My Dr. said it was because it was metal against metal. I am Marield65
