@donnab213
Thank you, and also to @flrvingbob and @roch for your thoughtful suggestions. I fly into JAX at the end of this month and had hoped there would be an airport shuttle to the Hilton, but it's 28 miles so maybe too far for them to run a transportation service. Yes, the two hotels are pricey, and the Marriott was almost $100 more a night.
Am counting on the shuttle because I can only walk 1/4 mile. Saw that the Hilton is 1.2 miles from my appt. building. Does the shuttle not run in bad weather? @flrvingbob's comment about being on time plays in my mind when I hear things like this.
As a retired RN with 35 years experience in hospital, I appreciated @flrvingbob's and @roch's comment about staying polite and flexible. So true.
@flrvingbob's suggestion to bring medical records with me was great. Yes, my PCP sent a lot of information to Mayo before they set an appointment, but just because something is in my electronic health record doesn't mean that they have seen it. I am bringing my MRI and X-Rays on a CD even though the images show they were uploaded to my patient portal. For other reports, I will have two copies, one for myself and one to hand to them.
My appt. is for neurosurgery, and the one hour will go quickly. So if they ask for something like my latest EKG or current list of medications and allergies, I can give them a copy from my book.
Thanks again, everyone, for listening and making recommendations.
@mcbhva Yes, the shuttles do run in bad weather. Sounds like you won't have to worry about the parking lots so drop off is at the main doors, whichever building you need to go to. Best of luck!
