I have a calcium score of 1359 which really surprised my doctor because everything else in my blood work is in the green. He has me on one Rosuvastatin per day. I have never posted anything healthwise before and it is nice to read from other people in my condition.

I too was shocked to discover a CT calcium score of 1146. I am athletic at age 74. I am now taking Rosuvastatin 20 mg and Ezetimibe 10 mg and have increased my cardio workouts. No untoward side effects from the statins. A high score could mean there is hardened plaque within the arterial walls with no current danger. It’s the soft plaque that can block arteries if it breaks loose. Systemic inflammation of a sustained nature can trigger soft plaque breakaways. Watch your sugar intake carefully as that really fuels inflammation.
My PCP sent me to a cardiologist who ordered a nuclear stress test, a carotid Doppler test & an echo cardiogram. All the tests showed that I have no clogged arteries. Phew! For now…
Try getting your Lp(a) and ApoB lipoprotein scores. In about 16 months there will be a new drug for the Lp(a) which is the most dangerous of all. Or so says my cardiologist at MassGeneral Brigham Hospital.
150-200 minutes a week of exercise really improves the risk profile for folks like us despite genetic predispositions for progressive heart disease.
It’s all about slowing the progression of disease processes.

Just follow your doctors instructions and don’t eat junk and try to get some exercise and try to keep yourself at a low risk as possible and you will be ok. Good luck
