As you wait for others to comment I want to chime in and offer a bit of encouragement.
A ferritin level can be elevated for a lot of different reasons, so it doesn’t automatically mean hemochromatosis. Your healthcare team will look at it along with your other lab results and medical history to decide if any additional testing is needed.
I can understand why you’re wondering if it could be related to your history of brain aneurysms. That’s an important question for your healthcare professional, since a ferritin level alone can’t tell whether there’s a connection.
Have you had a chance to talk with the provider who ordered the labs? Did they mention whether they checked any other iron tests, like transferrin saturation or iron levels? Have your ferritin levels been elevated before, or is this new?
