My wife had total bilateral in September of 2011, Revision on right 9 months later, revision on left in 2018, right hip removed in 2022, medicated spacer implanted for 8 weeks before new implant placed; no NEW symptoms but elevated Cobalt / Chromium in addition to two separate Staph Infections. From 2011 on her cobalt / Chromium levels had remained elevated until 2022 final implant placed. Her primary orthopedic surgeon declined a blood test, we asked her primary doctor and she ordered the test. Cobalt was 17.9 and Chromium was 9.8. Whatever implant placed should always be in your medical file with a copy to your primary. My wife has her test preformed annually through her primary to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Having Titanium and ceramic coated ball Can fail over time as can staph infection with no new symptoms. Should you have ANY concerns; you are your best advocate and should not stop asking questions until you are satisfied with the results you seek! Just recently my wife has been having a lot of lower back pain that penetrates into her hip area; she going to see her new orthopedic doctor for hopefully a complete work up on her blood levels to rule out any issues with her implants.
Best of luck to you and hopefully back to normal soon!
