Thank you for sharing your brave cancer journey with me.

May I ask if you had prior biopsies on the initial calcifications that were being followed during those first 2 years?
Also, can you help to understand what the breast MRI would help with re: the biopsy diagnosis?
I am trying to learn as much as I can from others who have been in this position in order to better understand all avenues I may be able to pursue.

@thegypsy I had no prior biopsies during the 2 years of monitoring the calcifications. I went every 6 months for a mammogram. My radiology center would never really tell me what they were seeing, just come back in 6 months. Another lesson learned. Always make them explain exactly what is going on.
MRIs and mammograms can pick up different things. After the initial diagnosis of DCIS I should have had a MRI to give more information. The IDC was not picked up in the mammogram. It’s always in your best interest to have as much information as possible before making any decisions. Unfortunately many insurance companies don’t want to cover MRIs unless you are in a high risk category and copays are high.
