My husband is scheduled for July 16 with Dr. Justin Lee in Sarasota FL. We will be driving 2 hours plus from Orlando. He is currently catheterized. I hope you will share your experience with us since you may have already had the PAE. Thanks looking forward to hearing from you.

@slopez2026 The first 24 hours was not bad. The ride home was OK.

The second 24 hours was significantly worse. The burning when going pee included my bladder and the penile part of the urethra. It burned the entire time. It subsided after I was done. The pain level was way up there. Sitting down on a chair or couch places too much pressure in my rectum. Reclining on the couch or bed granted me some relief.

The third 24 hours was the worst so far. I started freezing and knew I should start monitoring my temperature. I got up to 100.5°f and felt like I had an infection. I took Tylenol and waited an hour. The fever did not lower. I took 600mg ibuprofen and an hour later I was at 99.8°.

Just lying on the couch I can feel stinging or itching at the prostate site and the tip of my penis. That’s when the bladder spasms started. I kept drinking water, juice, or iced coffee. Every fifteen minutes the spasms would prompt me to void. A tiny bit would come out with the pain very high, I wouldn’t be able to talk. Standing caused the spasms to come on strong and more often. The anti bladder-spasm medication really helped. I could wait for about an hour before taking a trip to the bathroom.

In four hours the fourth 24 hours will begin.

Best of luck for your husband and this procedure. There is a lot of information in this forum. For me when guys mentioned burning upon urination I didn’t realize it would be so bad.

How did you decide on Dr Lee? I live near Sarasota and had found his info while researching the PAE procedure.
