Hello,
My close family member had incidental findings of NET 1 in stomach. Gastric level normal and ki-67 less than 2. They removed 5 sessile polyp of less than 1cm. However after 1 year on surveillance endoscopy there were 3 more. They biopsies them not sure if they removed. After the first endoscopy her PET scan was normal.

Anybody here had recurrence this early? Should we worry? I’m still waiting to speak with doctor. The quick report says biopsy of 3 lesions but doesn’t talk about removal.

@drs70, welcome. I'm also bringing @hopeful33250 who has experience with recurring NETs.

Has your family member met with the NET specialist in the meantime? What did they find out? Next steps?

Hello @drs70,

I'd like to join @colleenyoung in welcoming you to the NETs support group on Mayo Clinic Connect. I am glad that you found this patient forum. It's good to meet others with a similar diagnosis.

As @colleenyoung said, I have had three surgeries for NETs in the duodenal bulb. The first two surgeries were just 2 years apart, and the third surgery was eleven years after the second surgery. My NETs were also found incidentally during a routine upper endoscopy for GERD and ulcers.

Did you family member have symptoms prior to the finding of NETs? How is he/she feeling now?

@drs70 Hi I have had 2 nets in stomach that are two years apart. So disappointed when I found out I had another net by endoscopy. My Oncologist who is not a NET specialist did not see the need to do a petscan recently but did it for peace of mind because I asked for one. Thank goodness I got one. They removed the polyp and it showed another NET. Now going to MD Anderson for help!
