@dvargo thank you so much for all the information, here is a big question, how long do you intend to stay on HRT? its this that worries me.

For me.....
Forever. I don't want to let my libido go until death. I am 78

Sirius XM radio(subscription fee) has a 'doctors' radio channel where some endocrinologists advise staying on HRT for life(not individualized but general information to callers). Extenuating conditions such as perhaps bleeding uterine fibroids may be a condition to discontinue.
I was on HRT for 5 years but my bone mineral density in my 50s continued to decline until I went on fosamax. It then improved after 4 years on fosamax(from -2.6 to -1.9 in femural neck) and I am now on a drug holiday(off the fosamax-but still on estradiol patch). Once off the fosamax for 2 years, I will get a new bone density test.
