Hi. Thanks for the reply. I am already getting a biologic (Kevzara) and it is fully covered by my insurance. I have Medicare and an Advantage Plan that is good to me. I’m grateful.
My PCP was surprised that my rheum. did not suggest the 3-week interval instead of the standard 2/week, as that is commonly done in cases like mine. I thought the same thing and also wondered why she didn’t reduce the dosage, which is another option listed in the Kevzara prescribing literature/guidelines.
My PCP suggested that I do blood labs again, three weeks after my last injection, and if ANC and Platelet Count were acceptable that I go ahead and take the injection. They were, and I did.
I’ll repeat the lab test in three weeks again and if acceptable, I’ll take another injection.
The response by my rheum. will be interesting. But, she’ll see that my actions are validated by the Kevzara prescribing prescribing policy. This will be the second time that I have to show her the Kevzara prescribing policy.
I’m now down to 2.5mg/day of Prednisone, with Kevzara. I don’t think I need the Prednisone other than to assist as my adrenals as they “wake up.” They might be fully awake, I don’t know.
Proving that I am cautious, I fully intend to continue tapering gently as is recommended practice.
Ain’t life grand?!
