Maybe you can ask him to give you vit B12 test to see if you are deficient in that. We here can order tests and pay out of pocket by ourselves, I do not know how it is in Australia. So ask him and if the test comes back on a low side ask him to give you an injection ; ).

Also, in the meantime, buy some B12 supplements and particularly ones that are in a form of lozenges (you put them under the tongue and than let them melt slowly). That way vit B12 can be absorbed directly into your blood without going into digestive system where it might or might not be absorbed.
