@lulululu Jeannie, It is the disease. My husband is the same. He has me as two people. The woman who makes him do all the things he doesn’t want do and the one that is all smiles and hugs…. He will talk about the first one in not always a nice way, and will ask me when the other one is coming back. I have read that sometimes our loved one relates to us as in different time periods of our lives. I think the sweet younger lady is probably from our younger years and the older one is from now. At first this realization really hurt, but I know I can’t take it personally. I think he knows he needs both of us and I am sure your husband does too.

@labrown Thank you so much as it sounds so familiar. I was especially sensitive because at 77 he is now 82 I found out about his long term side chick. Thank you as I do realize it is a disease and he too talks about the nice sweet one and the crabby one and the same day. He never thinks I am the mean one! Having a long term affair definitely complicates feelings. So appreciative of you sharing. I now sorta go with it but I was crushed at first.
