@deanhobart thank you so much for all this information. I will consult with my gastroenterologist and report back here. I have an appointment next Friday. I am sure my pancreas is still producing some enzymes because supposedly the enzymes are mostly produced by the head of the pancreas and I still have the head and the body, only the tail was removed. But I will still ask the doctor. Like I said, I don't take the Creon on a regular basis, and when I do, it is two 25,000 unit capsules. Thank you again.

@cpblanco just be aware that if you are prescribed creon, or any other branded digestive enzymes, it is because your body isn't producing enough. Although you might have c a condition that is improving, it would mean that you would need it less and less, but you would still need it (at whatever dose) at EVERY MEAL.

Not taking it regularly can lead to malnutrition, digestive discomfort, and/or other health problems over time. I have never read or heard of anyone needing it 'occasionally ' or 'periodically '. If so, there would be something wrong with your natural enzyme production to be that variable.

Maybe the issue is that your dose isn't calibrated correctly, and you actually don't need the 24,000 pill level. Definitely ask the doc, because I almost killed myself slowly over 6 months of malnurishment by not understanding how it worked. Also, once you find out, let me know if I am misunderstanding something.
