Last November I had cataract surgery on my left eye while on 15 mg Prednisone for PMR. The recovery to perfect vision took longer than my right eye, which was corrected six years earlier. Eight weeks later I was back to 20/20. Not sure if the difference was due to the lens implanted, age or skill of the different Surgeons?

I am learning so much on this forum. I have been on 10 mg Prednisone for a little over a year. I never associated the under eye bags with that medication. It also accelerated my cataracts. I just had surgery in April. My sight is so much better, but it did nothing for the eye bags. I am contemplating changing from prednisone to hydroxy chloroquine to get rid of the side effects. I also read in this forum Prednisone can cause crepe skin? That's new to me as well. I do not have a definite diagnosis as my thigh muscles are the only problem I have. Pain is tremendous and debilitating without prednisone...I have also read Prednisone increases cholesterol, which just showed up in recent blood tests. Huge increase in a year. I am 73 and have been quite healthy up until the last 2 years or so.
@southfork6800 Cataract surgery replaces your old cloudy lens with a clear artificial lens that will never get cloud and blur your vision. If you're a candidate for the surgery, I would recommend it. I found the difference between the cloudy lens and the clear lens to be nothing short of a medical miracle.

Had cataracts before PMR but the 6 months of prednisone accelerated them. Had surgery on both eyes and can see so much better.
