@dorob I herniated all cervical discs when thrown from horseback back in my 30's. Now 77. Despite that fall, I ran marathons, ice skated and lived a very active lifestyle. Then in 2019 my car was T-boned on the driver side (no side airbags), fracturing my cervical C1-C2. It did not heal correctly. Last year, was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis, contributed to by my chronic pancreatitis. Been on Tymlos for just over 8 months and hoping it works for me. It's an uphill battle because I do not absorb my nutrients as I should. I'm planning some neck surgery and need good bone quality to hold the hardware. I'm currently interviewing neurosurgeons for this very specialized surgical procedure. Hoping for the best.

@willowmena
Thank you for sharing. Your journey has, indeed, been a long one with this issue. Do you know if the Tymlos is working for you? I am assuming your PCP, endocrinologist, bone specialist suggested that you begin the drug in anticipation of your surgery and surgical success as well?

It is so difficult to go from our active lifestyle to one of limitations. I suspect most of us assume that one thing or another in our lifetimes would take us that direction. The decision-making process of what to do next and with whom in terms of surgical intervention does not get easier as we get older either. I pray that you live near the Mayo system if you are anticipating that route. I, unfortunately, do not. My 2nd hardware install was done there.

Have you had any side effects that are worrisome from the Tymlos? Are you having increasing neuro systems that make you think you need additional surgery?

I will keep you in my prayers, willowmena….
