Numerous hospitalizations over4 months then surgical removal of 12 inches, resection. Discharged 24 hours later. Instructions for drain and wound care, pain and minimal information regarding diet and bowel function.
Weakness, loss of appetite ,diarrhea, constipation, burning, hemmorhoids followed for 6 weeks.Numerous calls to RN with differing guidance: take :laxatives, take fiber.Unable to function normally for 3 months.Bowel movements are irregular .Learning about foods and their pathways. Request for Dietician unanswered.
Patients need pre and post surgical education from gastroenterologist as this is a life changing experience.

@mjjdam1983 - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Sorry to hear about the numerous hospitalizations and the irregular bowel movements.

Is there a possibility you could place a request in another quarter to get some help from a dietician? Did you get any education from your doctor along the way, then?
