mayofeb, I’m sorry to hear you’ve had no relief with either cortisone shot or P/T for your hip. I too have had hip bursitis for 10 months, had a shot last month which did not help(I actually think the Dr. got the wrong placement) since he wasn’t sure if it was bursitis or tendinitis and I had cortisone shots previously (different location) which totally eliminated my problem. I had previously gone to one P/T who said I had no muscle weakness so he just treated the pain which basically did nothing. After the failed court. shot my ortho dr. referred me to another P/T who is wonderful, doing actual therapy on my hip along with exercises I do at home. After 5 sessions my bursitis is almost gone. I am usually sore after a session which is actually helping to strengthen the muscles which in turn will eventually take pressure off whatever was causing the irritation and hence inflammation. Are you able to take NSAID’s for pain? I started on Tramadol and now only 1 Naproxen at night. Bursitis often goes away on its own with rest, hopefully this will work for you. Best, Helen
