@davidyapp Hi David my name is Lori. I had an ependymoma removed 21 years ago at L1/L2. It took me years to become mobile without an aids. It took moving to a dry warm climate. The pool is what really helped me. The doctors I had at the time said there was nothing wrong with me and it was all in my head. How did they find you tumor?

My next door neighbor was a orthopedic surgeon in Lincoln NE; he requested for me to get an MRI (he wasn't my doctor but he was always curious of why I limped on my left side of my body); he ordered and MRI for me & we found a large tumor at the top of my spinal cord (inside) C6/C7; he told me that I need to go to one of the best spinal cord tumor hospitals (went to MD Anderson in Houston). My doctor was Robert Grossman & he told me it wasn't an emergency but he told my wife and I that my spinal cord could collapse if I didn't have the operation and become parapolygic. I was pretty lucky as my next door neighbor wasn't part of my medical network & he pushed for the MRI. At the time, I was complaining of lower back pain which had nothing to do with my ependymoma. Sometimes we get really lucky (early detection is extremely helpful)

Let's face it ... most doctors have experience with spinal cord tumors; I was told at one time ... our tumors were 0.005% of total (really small).
