I am six days out from c6 c7 foraminal stenosis surgery to remove bone spurs causing nerve compression and unfortunately on day four severe shoulder and arm pain has returned. I'm wondering if this is normal because for the first four days I had minimal pain and I was feeling pretty good but it has gotten so bad I have to ice every 1/2 hour and take the pain pills which do not help very much. I'm wondering if this is normal recovery or maybe a concern that the pain is permanent.

@mayr - sorry to hear you are having to ice every half hour. That is a lot. If you've not gotten to check with your surgeon, I think that would be helpful, and he or she may have some solutions.

What pain medication are you taking that is not seeming to help much? Is the situation any better today?
