@jc76 It's too scary to put any info like license and social on anything these days. Its hard to tell what is real or thieves! The generation after mine seems to think it's ok, I’ve noticed that my generation, baby boomers, are far less trusting. (For good reasons) Im pretty sure it's because my parents, depression kids, taught me this.

Yep still don't like giving out that SSN. Medicare changed years ago to doing a specific Medicare number and removed the past policy of using SSN. V.A. started doing that also giving a specific VA # and removing SS#.

I don't think a SS# should be used for anything other than SSA. But as you so accurately stated I am not so trusting and guarded as many others.
