I took Gabapentin for about a week and noticed a severe memory loss problem. Another problem was that I could not remember words to finish sentences. It was very noticeable to me. The only thing different was that I had added Gabapentin. Looked up the side effects and the memory problem was listed. Had only been on it a week. My memory went back to normal after I quit taking it.
I see a lot of people on this forum trying to get off their medications. Several of you have stated that you have been on the medicines for long periods of time, some for years. You need professional help to stop taking these medicines. You could have severe complications trying to do it on your own!

Cognitive side effects are very common in seizure medications. Your side effects may have improved or gone away all together if you had continued taking it a few weeks or sometimes months.

@grannytrucker generally, docs instruct patients how to get off meds very gradually, so as not to shock the body and its systems. Medical guidance is a must !

Yes, I have noticed memory loss with Gabapentin too. Pain got so bad without it so now I take one 300 mg early morning and one 300mg near bedtime. Does give me some relief but not near enough so I take 500mg Tylenol throughout the day. Still have pain but it helps some. I am open to any suggestions.
