Hello—I’m facing a problem right now. I have Type 2 diabetes and am currently taking Ozempic 2 mg once a week. My doctor told me this would help me manage my blood sugar levels. While it *has* indeed helped me control my sugar, I’ve actually gained weight. I thought Ozempic would help me lose weight—since it worked so well for my blood sugar, I assumed it would do the same for my weight—but instead, my weight is completely out of control. What can I do? I’m terrified of continuing to gain weight. I’d like to switch to Mounjaro to see if that might help me with both my blood sugar *and* my weight. Could someone please offer some advice? I also have a medical issue with my right leg; I have blood clots in my veins and arteries, and my weight certainly isn't helping matters. It’s truly baffling—I don’t understand how I’ve gained weight when I barely eat anything at all. It seems like an unbelievable problem, but it’s taking a huge toll on me. I’ve lost the desire to go out like I used to, and I’m suffering from terrible stress. Please, can anyone offer some opinions or suggestions on what I should do? I am 48 years old.

@marilynmercedes657 The 2mg shot is the maximum dose of Ozempic so you should have been on it for at least 4 months to get the titration to that level. Was that required for glycemic control (usually patients only go to 2 for weight loss in addition to glycemic control)? Tend to lose more if overweight. Did you lose any weight since you started Ozempic? At some point almost everyone stops losing weight on both Ozempic and Mounjaro. When losing weight exercise is important to lose fat rather than muscle. Without exercise the loss of muscle lowers the number of calories required faster than with fat loss. Some never lose weight on Ozempic. You can discuss changing medication with your doctor but that will require another 4–6-month titration period to get to effective doses. Cannot just switch to high levels of Mounjaro.
