@cheyne Had to smile at your post. "Little late to the party" indeed! I do relate to much of what you have written - the underpinning being frame of mind. Always have managed a full plate head on. It would seem sideways and gently is the name of the game with this. Never too old to learn. What seemed to kick it off for me were too many surgeries and too much illness in a fairly short period of time. Thanks for your input - Be well!

Hi,
It is a lot to get your head around, no pun intended. The only way of fighting this is the power of positive thinking. Sadly, not every moment of a day is full of positive thoughts, it can and does wear you down from time to time. I find I have to concentrate a lot more to walk than I care to. A lifetime of it being automatic is hard to get over, mind wise, as physically I'm just along for the ride. I have had to adapt to a lot through some serious health issues, of which FND is every bit as serious, but for me not on the front burner for the moment. Just when I thought I had a handle on an ailment, I find the medication is actually killing me. Just into 3rd week fighting to stay alive through medication that was supposed to help me. Now they want me to take a pill to cure the pill before that which was supposed to cure the side effects of the pill before that. For 3 weeks they have been trying to get me into hospital, and I adamantly refuse to comply. There was nothing other than watching me to be done, I can do that at home all by myself. When you are loaded up with a weeks' worth of medication that has a half-life of 5 day it's with you for 20 to 30 days and nothing can remove it. I was hesitant to start with; I should have listened to myself. Anyway, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, doesn't it? Sadly, not in my case. But anyway, it has distracted me from the FND for a few days so there was something good in it! Today I'm limited to my wheelchair with spinal compression getting me, a bit of R and R might sort it out. Fingers crossed. Through all the health issues I carry I'm thankful I have the determination to fight and not lay down and take it. Likely why I have lasted so long without help. I guess I have been lucky playing Russian roulette with myself. Alternatively, I know my body pretty darn well which allows me to make such hairbrained choices.
Cheers
