I am 74 and have EBC, ILC, 1A, ER, PR and HER2+ I was given Anastrazole and had a HOST of issues with digestion, constipation, infectious diverticulosis. Doc changed my script to Tamoxifen. I have been taking it daily since February and doing pretty well except after my 10 year routine colonoscopy, I suffered intenses muscle cramps so much so that I was sent for DVT ultrasounds. Turns out it was total dehydration from the prep for the colonoscopy. Three weeks ago, I tripped and busted my knee cap, one that I had broken 22 years before with a couple of surgeries. I am waiting to find out if I will need arthroscopic surgery. T
amoxifen can increase risks of DVT. Once given the green light, or after surgery, I may try to circle back to anastrozole for a few months to see if I can tolerate it after having a vacation from it.
I understand it offers more protection than tamoxifen.
I took Anastrozole for 15 months and dreaded each day. It caused irregular heartbeats, fatigue, and so much more. I have to take MiraLAX, fiber and magnesium daily to be able to have normal functions now after Anastrozole and also on Tamoxifen. I drink so much water but that does not seem to help. My primary care doc prescribed 20 mg of Pepcid to deal with the reflux. I stopped the Pepcid once all was under control and now I seem to need it again. This time, I am trying 10 mg of Pepcid in hopes it will do the same good work.
Brain fog and weight gain are both issues on each med but knowing I am not negatively impacting my osteoporosis makes tamoxifen more appealing even with the small risk of uterine cancer.

@georgemc867 I am 72, diagnosed last August with ILC stage 1 & also have thin bones. I somehow convinced my oncologist to prescribe 10mg (half-dose) of Tamoxifen, which I started on January 1st. I feel pretty great! I've started doing regular Pilates & am working to lose a few pounds that crept up after diagnosis. Also, crazy as it sounds, the Tamoxifen seems to have eased the bouts of heartburn, acid reflux that I'd had in the past! Taking the half-dose of Tamoxifen has really been a good solution for me, so, food for thought! Sending best wishes!
