@crossette AREDS 2 has nearly 1500% of DV of Zinc and after taking them for 3 years, I suffered a catastrophic copper deficiency, nearly died. This site reports AREDS 2 has toxic levels of zinc, which attacks copper. It took 17 copper infusions and 3-1/2 years of PT to get me out of a wheelchair to a walker. Without copper, you cease to exist as it's a conduit for nerves. OBTW, my optholmologist NEVER ordered a simple blood test. I'm acceptable collateral damage as NO warning on package and same daily recommended dose: 2 tablets per day. Eye doctors have NO clue and blindly recommend. I am still cold and numb from knees to toes, trigger fingers and pins and needle sensation on hips

I was worried about the same, taking 2 AREDS2/day. I asked for a copper
test, oddly I had a little more copper than normal but not a problem. Keep
asking your providers for any test you seem appropriate
