Very glad I stumbled ob Mayo Connect.
I have been dealing for 10 years or so with MAC, bronchietacsis doing mostly ok, For variety of reasons Iwas not doing religiously (skipped quite a lot) the airways clearance routine . The upshot is that at last march lungs scan
showed deterioration and specifically 1 cavitation 1.4 cm. Now I am doing twice a day albuterol/sodium chloride
and I am always exausted> I was offered the 18 months "antibiotics cocktail" treatment but, frankly, the side effect appear so severe and the statistical probability (I am 80 yrs old" of success without relapse are rather low.
So, like the previous gentleman" comment I feel I am between "a rock and a hard place" choice.
Not sure wht I am writing this, probably frustation By the way anybody using the new med BRINSUPRI.BRETOCATIB MED and if so soes it help at all?

The clinical trial evidence shows it helps bronchiectasis. The clinical trials did NOT exclude those with MAC/NTM disease but that subgroup was not individually studied. Reassuringly, pneumonia was more common in the placebo group. Brinsupri theoretically helps interrupt the vicious vortex but there needs to be more studies about it as it relates to those with MAC/NTM. So my final thought is that it depends on your risk tolerance around trying new drugs. I suggest reading through the brinsupri literature carefully and discussing with your pulmonologist. Good luck with your decision.

Adding that twice a day airway clearance continues to be essential despite being on brinsupri. You mention being exhausted all the time. Is that from airway clearance? Or from the disease itself?
