I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2019 at age 63. I went through all the emotions you describe -- devastation, fear, shock ... My condition has worsened since then, down to -3.5 spine T score in 2023, but incredibly I've never fractured with no osteoporosis medication anti-resorptive nor anabolic so far. I take all the supplements and follow a Mediterranean high protein type diet. I managed to stop the progression of bone loss with bhrt I began 2 years ago and even gained back a little bmd. I'm certainly not advising against medication because of my own experience though and would not rule it out if I fractured.
