My husband found out he has a “calcified mass” on one of his kidneys. It turned up on a chest X-ray when he was being scanned for something else. He was referred to urology. The urologist called it a benign cyst and didn’t think much of it. The urologist scans it every couple of years to see if there are any changes. My husband was told if he has any other problems or concerns he can return sooner for a follow up appointment. (It surprised me that this was referred to urology rather than nephrology; maybe they are less busy?)
