I was started on Clonazepam .5mg six years ago by my GP because of panic attacks, insomnia and significant weight loss a year after major back surgery. I don't regret starting Clonazepam because with it I was finally able to sleep and eat. It's good my GP didn't try starting me on an anti-depressant first because we later learned I have bipolar. I've been with a psychiatrist for over two years now who wants to try to get me off it. Over the years, I've managed to wean myself down to 3/4 of a .5mg, but that's as far as I can go without what feels like too much anxiety, irritability and insufficient sleep. I've gone through two more surgeries and three cases of broken bones in the last three years so I dread the thought of ever having to move away from physicians who've known me a long time and understand my medical history. I'd like to be off daily Clonazepam just to have one less thing to put in my nightly pill planner and, of course, to not have clueless people treat me like I'm an addict.

@blueskies1530 I totally agree with you so sorry you have so many back surgeries i’ve been on the same medicine for years she wanted to take taper me off because I’m on opiates because both of them work against each other, I don’t believe that it just helped me so much with anxiety, but hasn’t helped me with sleep at all
