@anniewee I do the same but mine is a full prolapse that is out all the time. So at times when things are stuck it's like having contractions until it gets relieved. Sometimes for hours. That is what causes the extreme pain for me. I use stool softners, laxatives, fiber, prunes and other fibrous foods. But I also have chronic pancreatitis that affects my diet as well.

@jolam Based on your conditions, I would opt to get a second opinion from a colorectal dr. first….if he/she recommends it too, then I would give the surgery serious consideration. Your condition is much more advanced and complicated….pursuing more medical help and the other suggestions made from others here in this thread is a positive step. A big hug and love to you.

Just had surgery for a painful prolapse that stayed out. So thankful I did. Very little pain, two nights in hospital, prolapse is gone and I feel renewed at age 90.
