@christine1975 Hello. I am a RN and I believe that if you have good values in your lipids taking Repatha is not the way to go. My husband had normal lipids and he is 83 now but last year his cardiologist gave him Repatha to try and he got a bad reaction to it which sent him to the hospital. He started to have shortness of breath, palpitations and weakness. He decided not to take it and as of today he has not been taking statins or any other cholesterol meds. We both have been following the Mediterranean diet for years, we don’t drink or smoke. I started statins and fell down three times because of muscle weakness on my legs. Studies have found out that statins, Metformin and any cholesterol meds don’t do good to many patients but as I always used to tell my patients…talk to your doctor and discuss everything. No physician has the right to push any drug to a patient especially if their lab values are normal. A friend of mine who is 73 started with Repatha in December of last year and she was hospitalized twice because of side effects, she got dizzy, with palpitations and lethargic. Her cardiologist discontinued it immediately. Do your research on Repatha and wait for other people’s experiences with it. You are 83 yrs old and it is not good to feel sick with a medication that probably you don’t need to take. Again, talk to your physician before taking any decision. Every patient is completely different. Stay healthy.

@naiviv thank you so much for your detailed response. I am too often reluctant to “challenge” a physician. You advise has helped me in this situation and will going forward — in taking responsibility for my health.
