@jojogigibobi I am 65. I used to take calcium supplements to achieve an intake of 1200 mg per day. I was diagnosed with hypercalciuria last year so my doctor told me to stop taking supplements and to focus on getting 800 mg through diet.
I had a DEXA scan last month after taking Evenity for a year. I had a vertebral compression fracture just over 2 years ago after being on alendronate for 5 years.
My bone density improved and my spine is in the osteopenia range. My hips are just into osteoporosis range but they have been at the same level for years now. Treatment and lifestyle changes (lifting heavy weights) have not made a difference in my hips. Perhaps they have helped keep them stable.
I’ve been on HRT for years. That also hasn’t made a difference. I think the hypercalciuria has been a factor in why I have osteoporosis.
